Chapter 2 Web Search Terms
The major database sites are listed in Table 2.5. Using the names of these sites as search terms provided by a Web search machine should locate the current Web address. These sites are reproduced below along with other useful terms.

The DNA database of Japan. |
| EMBL |
The European Molecular Biology Laboratory, the home of the EMBL sequence database. The powerful SRS sequence query and retrieval system is located at this site. |
| NCBI |
National Center for Biological Information at the National Library of Medicine, National Institutes of Health. Also terms such as Entrez and LocusLink can provide more specific links at this site. |
| PIR |
The annotated Protein International Resource database. |
| READSEQ |
Sequence format interchange program. |
| SWISSPROT |
The SwissProt annotated protein sequence database. |
